Best gift idea : Pastel flowers for your home
How was your Mother’s day so far? I am currently in Cairo and a bit far from my mom who is in Holland. But to surprise her I send her some flowers and a photo card. And surprised she was! Flowers are simply the best gift for others, ánd for yourself. Remember that I visited that amazing flower shop Joie de Vivre in Zamalek? Ofcourse I couldn’t leave the store empty handed so I came home with these pretty flowers wrapped in a blue-white striped cone paper wrap. It feels like a beautiful present for myself, you have to make yourself happy sometimes ;). So here they are, pretty pastel flowers which I love to style in my home.
Pastel flowers
I love to create a personal picked flower bouquet. Sometimes completely in white, in exotic colours or pastel. Now it was time for some pastel flowers! Before I start to put the flowers in the vases I always put them seperately on the table. So I can start thinking how to put them, which flowers I will combine together and in what vases. The thing is that sometimes I like to divide the flowers over more vases instead of putting them together in one vase like a real bouquet.
How I make that choice? That depends on my mood and what kind of flowers I choose. In this bouquet I choose a lot of pretty flowers who are amazing by itself. Some flowers I believe are good in a mix with other flowers and some flowers are prettier to put them alone. Also here it’s about balance ;). Selecting them for the right vases is actually a very nice thing to do!
A mix of vases on the table
So I picked a mix of vases from Ikea and this time it was mainly made of glass. I love the transparancy of these vases and how the light goes through them. In this way the focus goes to the flowers. Especially with these white and pastel flowers it has a fresh and bright look. For a little contrast I add this brass vase from Inca and Co where I put these pretty white flowers in. What I always do is put them first in the vases and see how much I have to cut off to fit right in the vase. In this way you can create the best arrangement.
Also you can play with different heights when you want to put more vases next to each other. Because that’s what I saw immediately when I put these vases together. That I will not divide them over the livingroom but put them in a group together on the dining table. Then I add some candles in white and soft pink so that matches these pastel flowers too. And I choose to put one candleholder in brass ( Fest Amsterdam ) and one candle holder in white ( Hema) so this is also in balance with the vases. The yellow bowl ( Fair trade Egypt ) I put as a small accent to match the flowers.
Do you love flowers as much as I do? And which colour combination do you like the best? Are you always chosing the same kind of flowers or do you mix? Just curious about your thoughts and ideas about flowers. If you like, you can share it here below the blogpost. Thank you again for reading and see you in the next post! 🙂
