Egypte | Karakter en kleur op straat

Kleur op straat! Dat is wat je veel ziet op het platteland van Egypte. In de grote stad Cairo zie je dat veel minder behalve in de wijken langs de Nijl. Maar als je richting het platteland gaat krijgen de huizen kleur, zie je veel groen en zijn vooral al die luiken voor de ramen zijn zo mooi. Zo wees ik naar een gebouw vol okergele luiken dat ik prachtig vond. Mijn vader begon te lachen en vertelde dat deze luiken juist nog geverfd moeten worden.

[ english below ]Deze luiken vind je eigenlijk door het hele land. Ze staan op mijn wishlist om mee te nemen naar huis. Misschien als decoratie aan de muur of ik kan ze echt gebruiken voor de ramen, maar wellicht dan aan de binnenkant ;). Zoals ik gisteren al schreef word ik erg blij van de plekken langs de Nijl en dit kleurrijke dorpje, waar ook mijn kelims worden geweven, heeft dan ook mijn hart gestolen.

Colors in the street! That is what you see a lot in the countryside of Egypt. In the big city of Cairo you see colors way less except for the areas along the river Nile. But if you head towards the countryside the houses are colored, you see a lot of green and the shutters in front of the windows are especially beautiful. It happened that I pointed to a building full of ochre shutters I really loved. My dad started to laugh and told me these shutters still needed painting. These shutters are actually found across the whole country. They are on my wishlist to bring home with me. Maybe as a decoration for the wall or maybe as actual shutters for the windows, but on the interior ;). As I already wrote yesterday the places along the nile make me really happy and this colorful village, where my kelims are being woven, has stolen my heart.
